What is the Cumbrian Concertina Club?
The Cumbrian Concertina Club is a warm, social learning community for adults who enjoy folk culture, creativity and local tradition.
Perfect for complete beginners — no musical experience needed.
Sessions combine gentle, structured learning with the joy of playing together.

Membership includes
Weekly 1-hour group lessons (max. 5 people): Small groups keep learning relaxed and personal.
English concertina rental included: A tutor-model instrument with brass reeds and a gentle, soft tone — perfect for beginner learners..
All music scores provided: Notation, exercises and tune sheets included.
Local folk repertoire: Cumbrian tunes and English/Irish/Scottish/Welsh, plus easy pieces commonly played at real local sessions.
Social gatherings: Join local folk events together as a group.

Membership Pricing & Instrument deposit
First month: £200
(includes your first month + £75 concertina deposit)
Then: £125 per month
(includes lessons, rental, scores and support)

About your tutor
Gareth is a Kendal-based musician, multi-instrumentalist and educator
(Piano, Harp, Concertina, Northumbrian pipes).
With over 20 years of teaching and performing across folk, community and educational settings, Gareth brings warmth, clarity and encouragement to every session.
